We will start the hike in the village that lies at the foot of the Karlštejn castle, the most famous and most frequently visited castle in the Czech Republic. We will walk past the castle and continue to Little America Quarry, Mexico Quarry and Big America Quarry. Big America is the largest of three limestone quarries. Small America and Mexico are both connected to Big America via a labyrinth of caves. We will finish the hike at St. John under the Cliff, a picturesque little village with rich history hidden under numerous cliffs and rocks. Do you want to join us?
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
We recommend comfortable hiking or running shoes, some water (at least 1 liter), food, fully charged phone, warm and waterproof clothes in case of raining. Those who are interested, there is a restaurant in St. John under the Cliff. The lunch is planned close to the end of the trip, so make sure you have enough snacks. You can also bring your own lunch and have a picnic.
MEETING PLACE AND TIME
At 8.20 a.m. outside the Prague Main train station (Hlavní nádraží), in the park Vrchlického sady in front of Potrefená husa pub.
DIFFICULTY
Intermediate. The route is 20 km long, with short uphills. Check out our Hiking Difficulty Scale for more information about the difficulty of the hike.
FEE
Early bird price: 550 CZK per person, after 15 Oct: 600 CZK per person. The fee includes transportation by train and services of the skilled and friendly guide (excludes food, drinks, insurance).
