Saxon Switzerland

Saxon Saxon Switzerland National Park is situated in the centre of a natural area of almost 710 km². During the journey we will discover its Eastern part. We start in a tiny spa town of Bad Schandau, pass the town of Postelwitz and take the Malerweg route – the most picturesque path in the area of Elbe Standstown mountains. We enjoy the breathtaking views of Schrammsteine rocks, climb Großer Winterberg mountain (556 m.a.s.l.) and finish in Schmilka town where we take bus back to Bad Schandau and then train back to Prague.

The trip is challenging when it comes to the heights. If you are uncomfortable with the heights, please, consider other trips of Nomad Society.

Comfortable hiking shoes are a must. We recommend some water, fully charged phone, warm and waterproof clothes and an extra pair of socks in case of raining or snowing. We also recommend bringing your own food. Restaurants along the way may be closed.

At 8:00 a.m. outside the Main train station (Hlavní nádraží), in the park Vrchlického sady in front of Potrefená husa pub. We should be back in Prague at 7:12 p.m. However, the exact return time depends on the group’s speed of walking.

The hike is hard. The route is 13 km long, with many uphills, downhills and a lot of stairs. Check out our Hiking Difficulty Scale for more information about the difficulty of the hike.

The fee is 1.550 CZK per person. It includes transportation by train and ferry, entrance fee to the lookout tower and services of the skilled and friendly guide (excludes food, drinks, insurance).
